Trees - Carolus
Season early-mid, an ideal garden variety that deserves wider appreciation, superb for it's hardiness, flavour and reliable yield. Cedar-apple rust is a fungus disease of apple and cedar and spends parts of its life cycle on each host. It is caused by Gymnosporangium juniperi-virginianae. The fungus can infect leaves and fruit of most cultivars in the eastern region. This table lists the susceptibility of various apple cultivars to cedar apple rust. I grow organically- and we usually have some imperfect fruit: “apple scab” fungus (which creates a surface blemish-and it helps fight cancer!), apple maggot (small white worms making bitter useless fruit), anthracnose (kills the tree), Codling Moth – one or 2 big worm holes, 95% Xy sooty blotch (surface dark fungus, harmless). Falls first flavor is apple.

Crisp, juicy with an intense distinctive flavor. The tree is compact and productive. Not a keeper.
Tree is low-maintenance due to its natural disease resistance to apple scab, cedar apple rust, fire blight, and powdery mildew.
